The Coffee Quality Institute (CQI) is a nonprofit organization that works around the world to improve the quality of coffee. It provides training and technical assistance to coffee producers to increase the value and volume of their products. Through these programs, farmers can also raise their incomes and improve their living conditions. Founded in 1995, CQI was founded by Ted Lingle and other industry veterans.
The CQI has a free training program for small groups of coffee producers and roasters, called Learning Online Together. The initiative aims to reach groups that would otherwise not be able to get training. It will be offered to six roaster-producer pairs, and will be completely free of charge. The participants will be able to work on their own schedules to complete the training. The first round of the program will be launched in 2022.
The CQI is a nonprofit organization that has a number of education and certification programs. One of the programs is the Q Grader certification, which identifies and promotes experts in coffee quality. It will accept applications until Feb. 28. If you’re interested in applying to become a CQI Q Grader, you can contact the institute to learn more about their certification and educational programs.
