If you’re looking for a good cup of coffee, you should check out the swanky new East Village branch of Danish import Coffee Project. They’ve been a destination for coffee nerds since their first East Village location opened in 2015 and this high-ceilinged, sun-filled spot is as stunning as they come. The menu features a lot of the same brews you might expect at any cafe but they have an excellent selection of specialty coffee from roasters like Brooklyn’s Sey and Greenpoint’s Kettl Tea. They also serve a compact menu of non-cooked daytime food including an impressive cheese board.
In the heart of the Financial District is Drip’s second Manhattan store and fifth New York City branch (all of which are housed within other entities). The FiDi shop works with several of NYC’s finest roasters with Sey and Little Wolf figuring prominently. They also have a great line-up of standard cafe drinks and an attractive retail shelf.
A bare bones South Williamsburg shop opened in the fall (in the former Mountain Province space) with a small menu and some spartan seating. They’re brewing Sey espresso, a popular microroaster known for their light Nordic-style flavor profile. They’re the only place in the city to serve this coffee.
A volleyball Olympian has put his stamp on this eye-catching West Village spot, which is tucked into the ground floor of a brand new luxury apartment building. They’re using a combination of Troy, NY’s Touchy and San Francisco’s Ritual and the large space is filled with lots of light. They offer a compact menu of sandwiches, cakes and other baked goods, including a great croissant and egg tart.
